The Car Hoarders

The Car Hoarders

I am sure this place has been done to death, infact I know it has because my heart sinks everytime I see a thread because it always seems like these once stunning cars are being vandalised more and more.

It was a very cold, wet and dull day when I decided to visit "The Car Hoarders". I knew that I was going to visit a site of smashed and trashed cars but I still wanted to see and photograph them.

I soon found myself stood in and amongst the once beautiful cars and although I knew what to expect, I just couldn't understand why people would want to vandalise such classics.

I have seen previous reports showing many more cars left behind so it was sad to see that not only were they being damaged but they were also being stolen! I later found out that some so-called photographers were also stealing the parts to some of the more classic vehicles that are left behind here. They boasted about having the hood to a VW Beetle amongst other things

I visited Iceland in September with the mrs, and while researching the trip I discovered there was an abandoned aircraft on one of the black volcanic beaches of the Southern coast near Vik. We grabbed the GPS co-ordinates and decided that would be enough to get us from the main road to the aircraft.
