Abandoned military relay tower

Author Croatiainfiltration - Last updated: 22.10.2012

This explore was in 2010., the original idea was to visit the relay tower and underground military base on the peak of Plješevica mountain and then go to the Željava airbase at the bottom of the mountain. Things didn’t go according to plan so we ended spending about 5h to reach the peak and when we got to Željava airbase it was pitch black!

The military base was used for a communication grid across Croatia, the mountain is located on the Croatia/Bosnia border and the wind at the top is really really strong and cold… The site is really interesting but dangerous because there are a lot of mines left. There was a moment when my friend walked through some debris and stepped on a door that has been on the floor, we moved the door and found 2 grenades, you’ll see them in the pics…

Come to Poznan next time, we have lots of objekts”
We went to Poznan, spent 8 hours there then got bundled into various 4×4′s and driven north. There were moments during the road trip I was reminded of the opening scenes of Hostel and was certain at any moment we were going to be killed for our cash and cameras

On the outskirts of Leipaja (Latvia) is an airfield. Just inside the gates, unloved and apparently unwanted sits a Soviet MIG.

Abandoned military stuff. Don’t like this so much, but the decay was nice:1Sport hall II… von aphonopelma1313 (suicidal views) auf Flickr2Sport hall I… von aphonopelma1313 (suicidal views) auf Flickr3Open… von aphonopelma1313 (suicidal views) auf…

This was a late addition to our list of locations, and when we explored the place in moonlight… well we didn’t hope for much, but as sunrise came we were pretty surprised!
