Abandoned Wedding Venue

Author Anoxia - Last updated: 14.05.2012

Visited with ThisIsMore, M&M, Oldskool and Host. Thanks alot of this location guys, awesome place! The day started off with the satnav taking myself and ThisIsMore around in circles, and ended with the quickest explore ever. All in all a great day, but a re-visit needed.

Small bit of history:
This mansion wabuild around 150 years ago, licensed for weddings it saw many happy couples begin their lives happily married. It was in use until 2008, then for unknown reasons it shut down. It featured a supposedly great restaurant with lovely food and an extensive wine cellar, a conservatory and a bar / function room capable of holding 200 people. It had 11 guest bedrooms along with reception rooms and lounges.

There are a few little beauties around the back of this place, but it was raining when we visited, so i only got some pictures of them my phone, a return visit on a nice day is defiantly in order.

In use till 2008! it looks like it’s been abandoned for years. Love the first pic.

Pretty well known beautiful luxury holiday resort, a prestige project from the early 70s, abandoned after the war.

Ordinarily we do our ‘sightseeing’ during the week. Security seem a little less ‘on the ball’, perhaps they’re not expecting visitors in the same way they are at a weekend.

Again, limited information on this place. Last review on a trip website rated it as 4 stars in 2010. In 2016, it was decidedly less so!
