Built in 1962, near an old monastery, this hospital sheltered 9 different services, while passing from medicine ” classique” , a surgery plastic department , a rehabilitation swimming pool , a maternity, 6 operating rooms and more, it had a capacity of 567 beds, which gives a mega-hospital, of 10 stages. This visit passed in 3 days, that is to say a visit of 6h, a very short second and finally a third of 7h, in spite of is 13h past inside, I still didn’t make the full exploration… to say to you. It was closed at the beginning of 2009 to leave place has a new hospital, even larger

1st day: departure of Brussels in company of Sylvain, made on the spot, has share the mortuary, all is quite abandoned. Entry will be not easy, of the planks of wood of 2m50 surround all the site, and the doors of access are closed with locks. Fortunately, Sylvain found a fault:) First impression once in the interior court : whaououou it’s very big! Entered by level -1, in a laboratory, one begins the visit with the department of dentistry, plastic surgeon, ophthalmology. First lucky find of the day, a white wine bottle, still closed, here of what to drink a blow while eating has midday: lol: The remainder of our first day will make us discover, the oldest part, the church, the rehabilitation swimming pool , and the access to the roof which gives us a splendid sight on the fun fair of the city, and especially, the most beautiful room for me, l’ amphitheatre.

2nd day: visit shortest, departure of Charleroi with Manu (ourspolaire), arrived on the spot, in front of the entries, 3-4 peoples await… urbex? police? one goes our way discreetly, and one will wait further. 5 min after, a van arrives and 2 men go down from there, accompanied by dog…it’s the training day of the canine brigade. . is well our chance, direction to the university of Liege

3rd day: always with manu, arrived on the spot, access of Sylvain is closed . .it’s starts well, will be necessary to climb, fortunately , a small wall help us, on the other hand to leave, will be necessary to improvise… this time , we entered by the large hall , with the cabin of reception, go to the kitchens, the restaurant and here us are in the church, unfortunately the organ is covered and considering the little of light it’s very difficult to photograph it, fast passage towards what one thinks of being the office director, very heavy atmosphere, upholstered wall, thick fitted carpet, woodwork, still superb parts of discovery, then, in the stages here us are in quite strange parts… a net of badminton were installed in the room.

Return in the most recent part, by chance, one falls directly on the operating rooms, 6 rooms, still very equipped with their suspended lighting, a chance

:)

, then randomly of the corridors, us here in a laboratory, pharmacy and his thousands of empty drawer. The night starts has to fall, our flashlights are almost flat, it is time of regained the exit, especially which we are with under ground and the weather starts really has to be black.

To summarize the strong moments of these explores… the discovery of the places with Sylvain, our wine bottle has midday, the strange noises in the darknesses of the corridors, the doors which open alone, the discovery of the amphitheatre, the swimming pool, the church and the access to the roof. The visit of the ml will remain for me, l’ one of my more beautiful explore hospital to this date

This week my friend and I took a look around an abandoned Irem Temple. It snowed the night before, so we were glad to be doing in indoor exploration. BUT… when we arrived, there were foot prints leading into the entry point…two sets of footprints.
