About Talk Urbex
Talk Urbex is a community site for those with shared interests in “draining” (when exploring drains) “urban caving”, or live/derelict “building hacking”. Its function is to provide an online environment for members to share tips, locations, and photos and to encourage others to join the crew

Walking derelict sites is a mixture of horror, fear and exuberance – your mind’s going wild as you enter the pit of the abandonment’s belly, senses heightened, every sounds chill you to the bone. As you are walking, you see evidence that you are not alone, needles, syringes – are the junkies still here, are they watching me? You set your tripod up, take the shots and get the hell out congratulating yourself that you made it out in good shape this time…
My kit bag has a variety of things in it, gear has been described here and I usually shoot a Nikon D300 with a ultra-wide Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Nikkor 50mm f1.4d and 35mm
In real life, I’m a geek doing geek stuff like network security testing and blackhat stuff

The strangest thing I ever did see was in the Red Cross abandoned hospital in Taplow, Berks. We went in late afternoon via the side of the admin block when all of a sudden all the trees began to shake like mad (no wind on this day) it was like all around us, we promptly made for the exit and went to the pub.
I’ve never been scared to enter a site (if you know the laws of trespass) guards are like the mouse and we are like the cats, it’s all a game and they know it so we are always polite when the crap hits the fan. Dark basements always get me thinking of some horror film, and service tunnels make me question my sanity.

I’m walking down a hall corridor, stop for a moment to take a shot. I’m setting up my tripod when I heard this loud noise like someone just slammed a door….Then I heard some footsteps ….
Quickly I take the shot, 1…(Damn long shutter time) 2…. ( meanwhile the sound of footsteps are getting closer) 3…. Yeah I can move on again. Quiet and slowly I walked up the stairs leading me 1 floor up in the hope that I can hide myself there for some time.
5 Minutes had passed before I decided to get on with my exploring, I turned around walked down the stairs to find out what that noise was that I heard before…
This time I was lucky, and I found out that there where more explorers inside…
I’m born and raised in Amsterdam, capital of The Netherlands. The most of my explorations where in Belgium and Germany. The UK is high up in my list to visit, because of my fetish for asylums. I also like to explore hospitals, castle’s, villa’s and more of those kind of locations. Here you can find my explorations http://www.flickr.com/photos/fv_photography/
My kit bag isn’t much…….yet.
It contains a Canon Eos 350D, The standard kit 18-55mm lens, a few memory cards, Tripod, Flashlight, Gloves and some other tiny things to survive my day,
