Was a really nice evening, and the site is very big. Everyone seems so excited about the closure of the main hospital. In my opinion it was pretty crap. I just dont see the photographic appeal of brand new modern stripped corridors and rooms :confused: This said, there are a few real gems, which made it a good explore!
I was very impressed with the boilerhouse for a start, but perhaps thats just because of the industrial love i have… I also enjoyed the big kitchens…
Sadly in the time we had we never made it to the laundry, which i really wanted to see, so a return for that is imminent. It was also quite cool to get into the chapel, which had a few nice bits, but on the whole way too new feeling.
My favorite bit of the site is actually the older, derelict outbuildings. While fairly stripped, they were nicely decayed and photographic. No graffiti either, always nice.
All in all, you have to sift through alot of new and boring crap, but there are enough good bits to warrant a visit. Still a bit more to return and do.
