As an old-school manual Pentax user – K1000 > MX > LX with gorgeous SMC-A* prime lenses, I am rather excited about this news. Here is the best blog entry I can find for it -

With the short 45-85mm zoom, [roughly 28mm to 60mm in 35mm format], it could be a lovely urbex camera. Heavily dust & weather-proofed, with QR plate points on the bottom and left side of the body for quick landscape/vertical switching – eliminating the annoying offset a traditional 3-way head causes, plus being comparable in weight to a D3S, the 645 is even more versatile as an on-the-go medium format camera than ever.
Just two minor issues,- it is only being launched in Japan for now, and it will likely cost £6,450 kitted with the 55mm standard prime… Them’s a lot of shirt buttons, but getting 40 megapixels the Hasselblad route will set you back a minimum of £13,900…
The Pentax lenses look like coming in at about the same cost as Nikon AF-S F2.8 pro lenses, so much less again than a ‘Blad
I want one! ![]()
