Exploring Atkinson Morley Hospital (UK)

Atkinson Morley Hospital (UK) – Care Institution

Visited with Winchester. We popped down for a look and weren’t completely disappointed. Yes it is fairly bland in places but still seemed photogenic enough to warrant a few pics I thought.

We did find the CT scanner, though seemingly not the same one as in the other reports. Unless it has been moved, this was down in a very dark room (lightpainting the only way to light it).

Anyway here are my pics…

  1. I was appointed Senior House Officer at A.M.H. in September of 1958 and pursued my training in Neurological Surgery under the direction of Sir Wylie McKissock and Mr. Lawrence Walsh. I remained at Atkinson Morley as a Registrar until February, .1962. Since, I have practiced Neurological Surgery for forty five years.
A.M.H. is the alma mater of a true multitude of illustrious neurosurgeons from all over the world.
I am heartened to learn that this landmark of medical history is still standing and sincerely hope it will be preserved as a tribute to the magnificent men who guided our first steps in the specialty.

The superb photographic documentation captured the spirit of the place and elicited very pleasant memories, half a century old.

    Thank you!
